GANT CHART

My total is 310 minutes divide by 60 that is almost 5 hours. Now I can plan how i will use each day from now until October to complete my project.

9/29-Day 2- 60 minutes
10/1-Day3- 60 minutes
10/2-Day4- 60 minutes
10/3 Day 5- 60minutes
10/4-day 6- 60 minutes

Investigation Reflection

5–6 (95 / 100) You explained the problem, discussing its relevance.
You critically investigated the problem, evaluating information from a broad range of appropriate, acknowledged sources.
You described detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

I rate myself a 5 because i explained the probleam which is to teach the 6th graders to use and understand the Design Cycle. Im using a game to teach the 6th graders about the Design Cycle, i compared the game and video because at first i didnt know which one to use since teachers use both all the time so i had to comapre them in everything in simplecity, graphics, music, animation, educational, and entertainment from 1-5. I critically investigated the probleam because i learned the design cycle and learned how to use before i teach it to some 6th graders. I learned how to use both the video and the game and i watched some videos from the video website and i played some games from the game website. I evaluated both websites and did acounts for both so i can expirience how and learn how the website works and if i can save or edit my work once im finished. I also described detailed methods for apropiete testing and i gave reasons to evaluate the product and solution against the design specification.

purposegames.com

I rated the game a 4 on simplecity
because i think its really simple to
use and really good and easy for the
6th graders to remember the design
cycle and memorize it. Its fast, simple
and basic for 6th graders to use and
learn and have fun learning.
I rated graphics a 4 because since its a
game it has alot of graphics and little
cartoons and characters and decorations.
It has graphics but not alot so i didnt
give it a 5 but since im not focusing in
graphics but in the content and how
the 6th gradeers will learn.
In music i gave it a 3 becuse it has
music but not alot a variety but i rated
it more than the video because in music
content its better than the video.
In animation is gave it a 4 beacuse it has
alot of really cute animation designs that
6th graders would like to see in a
educational game because they seem
like its not really a game to learn but just
to have fun. The animatins are nice and
cute but they dont disctract the 6th graders
from learning.
In education i gave it a perfect score of a
5 because its a really great game for the
student to learn and its not boring so you
kill two birds from one shot. You ebtertain
6th graders while teaching them the
Design Cycle they need to know.
In entertainment i gave it a 4 becuause
even thought its not a game for fun the
6th graders still have fun playing this types
of games while they learn and play at the
same time. Its the perfect combination for
a young kid that wants to learn in a easy
and fun way.

goanimate.com

I gave the video a score of 3 on simplecity because it
wasnt really complicated but it wasnt that basic eighter.
It took some effort to do but not alot and also it was
easy to understand with basic words for 6th graders to
understand.
In graphics i gave it a 4 because it has really great
graphics and really cute characters. It would entertain
the 6th graders with the cool characters but they would
concentrate on the graphics and not on the facts and
the Design Cycle informtion.
In music i gave it a 2 because it has music but thats not
the main requirment im looking for. The video has
more music options and has a larger variety to choose
from so the game got a 2 on music because it doesnt
have alot of options.
On animation i rated a 2 because it hardly has any
animation since its only anwsers to questions.
There is not alot of decoration or cartoon characters
like the video game. The only animation there is is
in the game is very little and since the video is a movie
clip then obviously it has more animation.
In education i gave it a 1 because it i think a video
doesnt really aducate a 6th grader because its like a
movie and its so easy to get disrtacted and not pay
attention. A game you actually have to anwser
questions and a viedo is just looking at something
teaching yourself and a game is like a review.
In entertaiment i gave it a 2 because a video is just
like a movie clip and when a teacher puts a movie
clip for the studentsto watch everyone gets disrtcted
and no onme pays attention. Everyone thinks its
boring and no one learns anything, so personally i
think an educational video is not entertaining at all.

Day 3- Investigation

Today i decided that im going to do a game using purposegames.com because like that they will be able to memorize it. The reason i decided not to use goanimate.com and make a video because im a student and i know that when a teacher puts us an educational video almost nobody pays attention becuase the video is just talking and talking not pausing if we have a question or a comment to make.

Day 2-Investigation

-Purposegames.com
for this it seems that i can do a game like for the 6th graders to memorize it. its a pop quiz style because it gives you like all the pieces of information and it asks you wich one is wich but it really just helps the 6th graders memorize it. <3

-Goanimate.com
this is more a video that the 6th graders watch because they dont pick an anwser or anything they just watch and learn. (;

Design Folder

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? The problem I need to solve is to explain to a 6th grader the design cycle.
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world? I’m sure that when people want to build any building, they go through the design cycle, even though they may not call it that.
3. How will this project serve my community? It will be explaining the design cycle, which in turn is useful in order to create anything.
4. How can my learning help my community? Whenever you learn anything in school, you are working towards going to college, which is contributing to your community, by making it a better place.
5. How do we live in relation to each other? By respecting each other
6. How does this help others? This project will help others (mainly 6th graders) in getting them to know how the design cycle works and how to be able to use it.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment? To be able to use the design cycle and to be able to explain it accurately and successfully.
8. What is the Design Cycle? The design cycle is the process used to create. It has 4 different steps- Investigate, Design, Plan, Create, and Evaluate.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
13. How will you "test" your presentation?
REFLECT ON YOUR LEARNING
PLAN:
14. Brainstorm ideas. Use the chart below
IB Brainstorming Chart .pdf found in schoology under “materials”& then files
15. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it?
16. Does your idea meet all of the requirements?
17. Use the story board paper below to plan your presentation.  Include how many levels you will have, what will be on each level, how will you include teaching skills to young students, and what will your questions be about.
story board.pdf found in schoology under “materials” & then files.
18. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days:
REFLECT on your learning
EVALUATE:
20. How could you improve your presentation?
21. Does your presentation meet all of the requirements?
22. Share your presentation with at least 2-8th, 3-9th, 4-10th+ friends. What did he/she like about your presentation?
23. Reflect on all the steps of the Design Cycle. What did you do well? What do you need to improve?
24. Were you responsible in using the software, Internet, pictures, and computer?
25. How can my learning help my community?
26. What grade do you deserve on this project? (1 - 6)

ATTITUDE:
27. Reflect on your attitude on each step of the Design Cycle. Did you completely answer each step without complaining, being a whiny baby, or saying "it's too hard". Explain your answer:
28. What grade do you deserve on your attitude? (1 - 6)
